Welcome to

Hazel Holler is an all-girl group from Eastern Kentucky, playing regional Appalachian music, almost-forgotten country songs, bluegrass and original songs.

Formed in 2003, Hazel Holler has kept audiences dancing and grinning everywhere they go!

>>>>ANNOUNCEMENTS<<<<<

Hazel Holler has hit the silver screen (of your computer, that is!) - we recently were photographed, videotaped AND interviewed by the Savannah, GA morning paper at Mossy Oak Music Park. They put the interview and part of our performance on their website!

THEN....when we recently played for the Americana Crossroads October show, they videotaped it and put part of the show on YouTube!

Shirley's long-awaited fiddle CD, "Redbird," is available!! It includes a variety of old-time dance tunes, blazin' hot bluegrass selections, and a couple of swing tunes. Two of Shirley's own instrumentals and one original song are in the mix, as well. The album features some of the best musicians in the area, including Brandon Adams, Stacy York, Brandon Shuping, Ronnie Young, Ralph Smith, Jimmy McCown, Valerie Mayse and Mitch Bentley.

Karen Yates, our multitalented lead singer/guitarist/graphics person, took 3rd place in the folksinging contest at the 73rd Galax Old Fiddlers Convention. All the Hazel girls attended Clifftop festival, then all but Jackie (who had to work, darnit!) continued on to Galax. We are SO proud of Karen!

>>>>MORE GREAT NEWS<<<<<
Since we won River Track recording time at the Clack Mt Band Contest, we are feverishly working on new material for another CD to include our new banjo player, Jackie Thacker. Look for our next project to have that "classic bluegrass sound!"

NOW AVAILABLE - our new CD, "WILD GIRL BLUES." Check our Schedule to catch up with us & get a copy, or just email us and we'll make sure you get one.

Karen Yates handles the lead vocals and rhythm guitar. Her strong family background of Appalachian history shows out in her rich mountainy voice. Karen was raised on Led Zeppelin and Sons of the Pioneers, resulting in her eclectic selection of material. She lives with her dogs and horses in Greenup, KY.

Shirley Seim saws the fiddle and sings harmonies and a few leads. Raised in Seattle, she first heard a bluegrass band at age 19, and in 2002 she migrated from that bluegrass mecca to Kentucky to play music! She lives with her dog in Ashland, KY at present.

Michelle Wallace plays bass and also sings. She is a recent graduate of Morehead State University and works in healthcare, besides holding down our bottom end! She lives on a farm in Sandy Hook, KY.

Jackie Thacker Jackie grew up playing music, along with her brother Ben (who graced us with his presence at the Covered Bridge Festival - it was hilarious!! pictures will be coming soon) She's an elementary school teacher, and has two teenagers of her own. She lives in Fleming County and plays a banjo her father put together for her.

Our first, self-titled CD was released in May 2004 and is available now for just $12.
